One of the biggest misconceptions about all-inclusive resorts is that EVERYTHING is included. And while the best ones come pretty close, there are some things you should know before you book.
What's Usually Included
✅ All meals at all restaurants
✅ Unlimited drinks (including alcohol)
✅ Room service (sometimes 24/7)
✅ Pool and beach access
✅ Non-motorized water sports (kayaking, paddleboarding)
✅ Daily entertainment and shows
✅ Fitness center and basic activities
✅ WiFi
✅ Tips and gratuities (at most resorts)
What's Often Extra
💰 Spa treatments and massages
💰 Motorized water sports (jet skis, parasailing)
💰 Off-site excursions and tours
💰 Premium or specialty experiences
💰 Photography packages
💰 Some premium alcohol brands
Resort-Specific Differences
*Sandals & Beaches* — One of the most inclusive packages. Even scuba diving, water sports, and premium spirits are included. Tips are included too.
*Secrets & Dreams* — Their 'Unlimited-Luxury' is excellent. 24/7 room service, top-shelf spirits, daily refreshed minibar all included.
*Club Med* — Activities and lessons are what set them apart. Trapeze, sailing, archery — all included.
My Tip
Always check what's included BEFORE you book. The resort's website will have a detailed breakdown. And remember: spending a bit more on a truly inclusive resort often saves you money versus a cheaper resort with lots of add-ons.
